Charles Wesley, the author of the hymn “O for a thousand tongues to sing”, was born on the 18th of December in 1707 in Epworth, Lincolnshire.
He was the 18th child of Samuel Wesley, a prominent Anglican clergyman, and poet.
Charles Wesley started his education at Westminster School when he was 8 years old. He furthered his education at Christ Church, Oxford.
Also, Charles Wesley schooled at Oxford University in England, where he got a master’s degree in classical languages and literature.
After he finished his education at Oxford University, he joined Anglican orders and was ordained as a priest in September 1735.
